Don’t cost me a dime

This is a find. The library has
a double record album of Bunny
Berigan. The hot driving trumpet
man of “I’ve Been Around The World
in a Plane. But I can’t get
Started, Can’t get Started with
You.”
I wonder what I was painting about
that Friday night? I’ve taken a
coffee and a Gitane outside to
love the knees along tum, Mount
Alfred shapes. Dark, dizzying.
Renewing.
There’s a bushfire above Mr Burns’
sawtooth profile, two thin chimneys.
The liner notes patiently explain
Bunny and his transient band got D
grade stuff to challenge them.
Whatever. The wildness of my backyard
can still astonish me. “We’ll fool
around, and I’ll have a Wonderful
Time.”
