McGregor says in his hypnotic Glesga (Glasgow) drowwwl.
Do all British men love marigolds? Dad loved marigolds too, planted them everywhere. I'm looking at the photo of grandma and granddad in the backyard of their house, smooching in their pre-World War 1 afternoon wear for the photographer, expecting to glimpse a couple of clumps and thinking that ...
The minute he's out of here, we're running upstairs to rip each others clothes off
Transcendence!
In my painting two marigolds merge, out of a mushroom hat shaped sugar bowl Hattie and I bought for $1 together at Lombard Market. When I see a duplicate later with a lid on it, I realise its a sugar bowl. Its not cracked, but it lacks the charisma of our one.
As I paint, I resolve frustrations. One tone orange is boring, I improve these two adding red, and ultra-marine blue, and yellow, and a bit of very dark brown paint. Now the centres are two eyes that sparkle amorously. The fluffy yellow chrysanthemum seems in the way in the middle. I hold the stalk up against the front of the painting - decide its perfect as a fly away canoe prow shape towing them off Bondi Beach where Hattie and Mehil live.
